Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
  • MBBS with five (05) years of professional experience in microbiology after postgraduate qualifications such as FCPS/MD in Microbiology (Diploma holders are not eligible for this position).

Additional Requirements
  • Age at most 50 years
  • At least 5 years of experience as a microbiologist.

  • Excellent knowledge of laboratory equipment, including electron microscopes, electronic equipment, chemical samples, and stains.

  • Expertise in microbiology techniques, methodology, and testing practices.

  • Ability to prepare research papers and technical reports.

  • Strong analytical, research, and leadership skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficient in IT and mathematical skills.

  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest research in microbiology.

We are seeking an Associate Consultant (Microbiology) with strong research and analytical skills to contribute to the hospital's microbiology department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests, analyzing patient specimens, interpreting results, ensuring infection control, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional care.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Laboratory Testing: Perform routine and complex microbiological tests, including bacteriology, virology, and mycology, on clinical samples.
  • Sample Analysis: Analyze specimens to identify microorganisms, assess their pathogenic potential, and determine antibiotic sensitivities.
  • Result Interpretation: Provide accurate reports to clinicians for the diagnosis and treatment of infections.
  • Quality Control: Ensure test accuracy through stringent quality control procedures and participation in quality assurance programs.
  • Infection Control: Monitor antimicrobial resistance, investigate outbreaks, and implement preventive measures.
  • Research: Conduct research on microorganisms and develop new diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and pharmacists to develop and implement infection control protocols.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe laboratory environment, following safety protocols for handling infectious materials.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of tests, analyses, and research findings.
  • Education and Training: Provide training and guidance to healthcare professionals on infection control.
  • Supervision: Supervise and train laboratory staff.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Others: Manage purchase orders and monitor laboratory inventory.
