Additional Requirements
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in fisheries management, aquaculture, or community-based resource conservation.

  • In-depth knowledge of community-based fisheries practices and ecosystem-based management approaches.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and mobilize coastal communities, especially fisher groups.

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills for working in field-based project environments.

  • Effective communication skills in Bangla and English is essential.

Responsibilities & Context

This Terms of Reference (ToR) outlines the scope of work, key responsibilities, and qualifications required for the position of Fisheries Management Officer under the Technical Assistance Services for “Fisheries Livelihood Enhancement Project in the Coastal Area of the Bay of Bengal” (FiLEP) (Component: Livelihood and Nutrition (LNC). The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented through a Joint Venture of NACOM & New Vision Solution Ltd. in Association with MUKTI Cox’s Bazar. The selected professional will play a critical role in achieving the project’s objectives related to sustainable fisheries resource management.

Reports to: Team Leader

Duration: Initially 8 months (with a possibility of extension)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of field-level fisheries conservation activities in line with project objectives and methodologies.

  • Identify and validate genuine fishermen within the project area, and facilitate their organization into functional community groups.

  • Assist in the design and delivery of fisheries-related training programs for both project staff and community beneficiaries.

  • Monitor fish catch trends and conservation outcomes; actively participate in awareness-raising activities and campaigns.

  • Develop and maintain monthly activity schedules and ensure timely submission of field progress reports.

  • Coordinate closely with Field Facilitators and Volunteers to ensure smooth execution of fisheries management initiatives.

  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and documentation related to fisheries interventions.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Team Leader to support the achievement of project outcomes.
