Two (2) years of experience as Medical Officer in any private or NGO clinic/hospital is preferable.
Willingness to work in humanitarian response.
Responsibilities & Context
Responsible for:
Provide primary health care services specially women, emergency patient and children following the standard protocols;
Management of health care centres and harmonisation of service points within the health care centre for which he/she is responsible;
Provide technical support to paramedics/ nurse/ midwives and counsellors;
Conduct necessary training for nurses, counsellors and allied health care workers - first aid training, health & safety training etc.
Supervise paramedics/nurse/midwives and counsellors;
Daily reporting on service coverage and drug dispensing;
Ensure overall Health & Safety issues within the centre;
Additional responsibilitie:
Perform diagnostic ultrasonography (abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and small parts) as per clinical indications;
Interpret ultrasound findings and support treating physicians in clinical decision-making;
Ensure proper documentation and archiving of ultrasound images and reports;
Maintain ultrasound machine and ensure routine quality control;
Train and mentor clinical staff on ultrasound procedures and appropriate usage;
Ensure safe and ethical use of ultrasound, particularly in maternal and reproductive health cases;
Activities:
Admit and evaluate new patients and decide appropriate action (e.g. treatment and discharge, or admission into clinical units;
Conduct thorough physical examination and gather detailed patient history;
Request and administer tests, if required (e.g. blood test, x-ray);
Interpret test results;
Diagnose condition and prescribe treatment;
Manage complicated cases;
Regular follow-up of admitted patients daily to review response to treatment;
Document all patient interactions using computers;
Review complicated cases with senior doctors during their daily morning and evening rounds;
Take actions on recommendations made by senior doctors;
Coordinate patient-care activities with nurses and other hospital staff;
Supervise and guide other members in the team for day-to-day tasks;
Support clinical research work in the hospital in order to ensure proper clinical management;
Train other staffs in basic rules and procedures followed at Friendship Hospital;
Coach junior staffs on the job on an ongoing basis;
Prepare and present reports on cases, incidents, initiatives etc. during team meetings and department meetings in order to share experience(s) and learning with team members;
