Responsibilities & Context

Production Process Optimization:

  • Analyze production workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce cycle times.

  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance layout designs, machine placement, and workflow.

Time and Motion Study:

  • Conduct time and motion studies to determine standard times for various garment production tasks.

  • Collect and analyze data to establish performance benchmarks for each stage of production.

  • Identify areas where time reductions can be achieved without compromising quality.

Line Balancing and Workload Distribution:

  • Analyze production line setups and implement line balancing strategies to optimize resource utilization.

  • Ensure efficient workload distribution among operators and departments to meet production targets.

  • Adjust line setups based on changes in product style, order size, and production schedule.

Method Development and Training:

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various production tasks to ensure consistent quality.

  • Train production workers and supervisors on best practices, new methods, and efficiency techniques.

  • Monitor adherence to SOPs and continuously evaluate the need for updated methods or tools.

Performance Monitoring and KPI Tracking:

  • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, efficiency, and quality.

  • Regularly review production performance data and report findings to senior management.

  • Identify trends in productivity and recommend solutions to address underperformance.

Cost Reduction Initiatives:

  • Analyze production costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, optimize material usage, and control costs.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to suggest modifications in design or processes for cost-effective production.

Capacity Planning and Resource Allocation:

  • Assist in planning production capacity based on order volume and resource availability.

  • Ensure optimal allocation of labor, machinery, and materials to meet delivery timelines.

  • Collaborate with planning and merchandising teams to adjust schedules and meet production goals.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Gather and maintain accurate data on production output, defect rates, cycle times, and other metrics.

  • Generate regular reports for management on efficiency, productivity, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making in production planning and operations.

Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

  • Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and planning departments to align on goals.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand challenges and propose engineering solutions.

  • Assist in implementing changes that support overall organizational efficiency.
