Bachelor’s degree in CSE, EEE, ECE, ETE, ICE or equivalent from a reputed university.
Experience
Overall 3 to 5 years of experience in transmission network roles.
Hands-on experience in ISP, IIG, or IX operations.
Must have experience with radio and fiber optic deployments, GPON, EPON, P2P systems, and IP networking.
Position Overview
The Senior Engineer – Transmission will be responsible for the operational execution, maintenance, and optimization of the ISP transmission network. This role involves hands-on engagement in optical fiber deployment, link monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure high network uptime and service quality. The position requires close collaboration with field teams, network planners, and vendors to support new link rollouts, troubleshoot transmission faults, and maintain SLA compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced telecom environment.
Key Accountabilities & Activities
Network Planning & Implementation
Design and implement transmission networks, including FTTx and PoP planning.
Conduct field surveys, route mapping, planning, and prepare required documentation.
Monitoring & Optimization
Continuously monitor transmission links and perform link budget calculations.
Identify performance issues and initiate rectification processes.
Field Operations Supervision
Lead field teams during link implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ensure compliance with operational standards and timely delivery of projects.
Service Assurance & Uptime
Ensure minimum network downtime and maintain SLA commitments.
Conduct routine audits and preventive maintenance across the transmission network.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Engage with service providers to manage capacity, resolve faults, and maintain network integrity.
Liaise with relevant authorities for permits and connectivity approvals.
Documentation & Reporting
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for network topology, configurations, and link budgets using AutoCAD and Google Earth or GIS.
Skills & Expertise
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of transmission and access networks (GPON, EPON, P2P and FTTx).
Proficient in optical fiber link testing, fault analysis, and budgeting.
Familiarity with IP networking fundamentals and NMS tools.
Skilled in using AutoCAD and Google Earth or GIS for planning and reporting.
