  • The position is responsible for leading the entire maintenance and utilities department. This includes supervision of all technical staff (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utilities). The role ensures smooth plant operations by minimizing equipment downtime, enhancing reliability, and managing cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Lead and supervise all maintenance staff, including plumbers, electricians, mechanics, boiler/generator operators, and technicians.
  • Allocate daily tasks and responsibilities across shifts and departments.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective feedback.
  • Organize skill enhancement programs (machinery repair, safety training, SOP familiarization).
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance across:
  • Electrical systems: Motors, panels, SDBs, fire alarms, wiring.
  • Mechanical systems: Compressors, generators, pumps, fans.
  • Plumbing/sanitary systems: Water supply, drainage, steam lines.
  • Boilers/utilities: Steam generation, chemical dosing, water treatment.
  • Monitor system performance logs (e.g., generator hours, boiler metrics).
  • Ensure quick resolution of maintenance and real-time updates.
  • Manage spare parts inventory; approve purchase indent based on need and consumption.
  • Oversee chemical stock for water softening, and boiler treatment.
  • Track material consumption trends and reduce wastage and excess procurement.
  • Lead emergency repair actions, particularly for critical utility failures.
  • Coordinate contingency plans, including backup power solutions for night shifts.
  • Liaise with third-party service providers (e.g., Bangla CAT) for specialized issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all occupational safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Enforce use of PPE, lockout-tagout protocols, and chemical handling procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments for plant safety.
  • Approve and verify daily maintenance reports, work schedules, and job sheets.
  • Compile monthly and annual reports covering maintenance cost, downtime, and performance KPIs.
  • Maintain and update technical documents, SOPs, and work procedures.
  • Develop department budgets, track cost trends, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Propose long-term machinery upgrade plans and layout improvement strategies.
  • Support management in CAPEX planning related to plant utilities and infrastructure.
